1. Agreement
These Terms of Service (“Terms”) govern your access to the FixMyLaw website, legal practice management application, client portal, and related services (the “Service”). By creating an account, accepting an invitation, or using the Service, you agree to these Terms and the Privacy Policy. If you use FixMyLaw for an organization, you confirm that you have authority to bind that organization.
2. Eligibility and accounts
You must be legally able to enter into this agreement and provide accurate account information. Public accounts use Google authentication. You are responsible for protecting your Google account, maintaining accurate firm membership and permissions, and promptly reporting suspected unauthorized access.
Firm owners and administrators are responsible for inviting, authorizing, and deactivating their users. Client portal access must be issued only to the intended client or authorized representative.
3. Service license
Subject to these Terms, FixMyLaw grants you a limited, non-exclusive, non-transferable, revocable right to use the Service for lawful legal-practice, educational, or client-collaboration purposes. This license does not transfer ownership of the Service or its software.
4. Your responsibilities
- Confirm that your use complies with professional, privacy, confidentiality, record-retention, and court obligations.
- Review matter permissions, restricted access, client sharing, and generated outputs before relying on them.
- Maintain appropriate backups and business-continuity procedures for records required by your practice.
- Obtain necessary authority and notices before entering personal, confidential, or privileged information.
- Ensure law students and non-lawyer staff use the Service under appropriate supervision.
5. Acceptable use
You may not:
- Use the Service for unlawful, fraudulent, or abusive activity.
- Access another firm's, user's, or client's records without authorization.
- Circumvent security controls, probe vulnerabilities without written permission, or interfere with Service operation.
- Upload malware, infringing material, or content you are not authorized to process.
- Resell, sublicense, scrape, reverse engineer, or copy the Service except where applicable law does not allow that restriction.
- Use automated or AI features to make unsupervised legal decisions or misrepresent generated material as verified legal advice.
6. Legal-services and AI disclaimer
FixMyLaw provides software, not legal advice, legal representation, or a lawyer-client relationship. The Service does not replace professional judgment, conflict checks, docket review, court rules, client communication, or supervisory duties.
Automated and AI-assisted outputs may be incomplete or incorrect. They must be reviewed by a qualified person before use. You remain responsible for legal work, filings, deadlines, advice, and decisions made using the Service.
7. Customer data and confidentiality
You retain ownership of information and documents submitted to your workspace (“Customer Data”). You grant FixMyLaw the limited rights needed to host, process, transmit, back up, and display Customer Data to provide and secure the Service.
FixMyLaw does not acquire ownership of Customer Data. Each firm determines who may access its records and is responsible for configuring sharing appropriately. Our handling of personal information is described in the Privacy Policy.
8. Third-party services
Optional providers such as Google, payment processors, email services, e-signature platforms, storage providers, or AI providers operate under their own terms. FixMyLaw is not responsible for a third-party service's acts, availability, or changes. You authorize data exchange only when you explicitly connect or use such a provider.
9. Fees and future plans
The currently available plan is free. No payment method is required to create a public account. If paid plans are introduced, pricing and material terms will be shown before you incur a charge. We will not convert a free account into a paid subscription without your affirmative agreement.
10. Availability and changes
We work to keep the Service reliable but do not guarantee uninterrupted or error-free operation. Features may be improved, limited, or discontinued for security, legal, technical, or product reasons. Where practical, we will provide reasonable notice of a material change that adversely affects active users.
11. Intellectual property and feedback
FixMyLaw and its licensors retain all rights in the Service, branding, interfaces, documentation, and underlying technology. If you provide feedback, you permit us to use it without restriction or compensation, provided we do not identify you publicly without permission.
12. Suspension and termination
You may stop using the Service at any time. Firm owners may request workspace closure or export subject to identity verification and applicable retention requirements. We may suspend access to address security threats, unlawful use, material breach, or risks to other users. When reasonably possible, we will provide notice and an opportunity to remedy the issue.
13. Disclaimers
To the maximum extent permitted by law, the Service is provided “as is” and “as available.” FixMyLaw disclaims implied warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, non-infringement, and any warranty that the Service will meet every professional or jurisdiction-specific requirement. Rights that cannot legally be excluded remain unaffected.
14. Limitation of liability
To the maximum extent permitted by law, FixMyLaw will not be liable for indirect, incidental, special, consequential, exemplary, or punitive damages, or for lost profits, revenue, goodwill, or data. FixMyLaw's aggregate liability arising from the Service will not exceed the greater of the amount you paid for the Service during the twelve months before the event giving rise to the claim or US$100. These limits do not apply where prohibited by law.
15. General terms
These Terms and any applicable order form are the entire agreement concerning the Service. If one provision is unenforceable, the remainder stays effective. A failure to enforce a provision is not a waiver. You may not assign these Terms without our consent; we may assign them as part of a reorganization or transfer of the Service. Applicable mandatory consumer and privacy rights are not limited by these Terms.
16. Changes and contact
We may revise these Terms as the Service develops. Material changes will be identified by a revised date and, when appropriate, communicated before taking effect. Continued use after the effective date means you accept the revised Terms.
Questions may be sent to [email protected] or through the contact page.
